We did it! We did it! We finished the counter tops and now the terrible "country blue" formica is gone. Well, we are done except for putting the outlet covers on and replacing the trim under the window sills, but that's all just little stuff...just keep that in mind when looking at the pictures.
We love the way it came out, and mom was kind enough to come down to Lubbock to help for the weekend. As you will see in one of the pictures, there is a roast being prepared in the crockpot. Thanks for dinner, Mom! Anyway, it was an intense weekend, but I hope enjoy our pictures!

Just thought I would start with some before pictures just for effect. Also, keep in mind that when the kitchen is completely finished, the top cabinets will look just like the base cabinets...white with brushed nickel hardware. That will be my next project

This, of course, is after I cleared everything off the counter tops....my kitchen does not always look this bare.

Here is our ugly old sink, with our nice new faucet. We decided that we wanted to phase out all the "almond" in the kitchen, plus, the metal "trim ring" (that's what David calls it, don't know if that is the technical term) we thought was ugly, so the sink has since been replaced.

Now for the AFTER pictures...

Here we are in the process of putting up the backsplash behind the stove. It was quite an ordeal, but each piece of tile was cut with a simple little tile scorer. We decided that this was my quilt project for the weekend since it kinda felt like I was putting a quilt block together. I think I will stick with fabric and thread from now on.

Also keep in mind that we still need to install the hood above the stove. That is why there is a section of the wall with no tile and loose wires hanging out.

And here is our brand new sink. I really do love it. It will look even better after we put the curtains up. Mom was nice enough to take the fabric home with her and offer to make them for me. And of course...the roast. It was delicious!

Ok...so I watched an episode of Seinfeld yesterday that just really made me laugh (even though I have already seen it probably a dozen times) so I thought it warranted at lease 2 quotes. It is an older episode where George thinks he is having a heart attack and ends up staying the night in the hospital.

"Women go after doctors like men go after models. They want someone with knowledge of the body. We just want the body."
- Jerry, in "The Heart Attack"

"Boy, they've got a great cafeteria downstairs. Hot food, sandwiches, a salad bar. It's like a Sizzler's opened up a hospital!"
- Kramer, in "The Heart Attack"
